Life Of a Marine Engineer by Pradip

Life of a marine engineer has become so dull lately. I''ve been sailing for over 30 yrs now. Remember the days -  when we had plenty time to go out, see places, make friends n enlighten ourselves about the lifestyle/cultures of various places, all over the world.

These days, due to short stay of ships in port, one can hardly go out. You reach somewhere after 25 days, they finish ur bulkcargo in one day. you remain busy attending the cranes/grabs/cargo pumps n whatnot. Its even worse if u r in a  container ship, it takes a few hours to empty out n reload.

All work n no play is making marine engineers dull men.

MARINE ENGINEERS ARE CAPABLE OF HANDLING ANY SITUATION/ADVERSITY.. PRADIP, YOU SHOULD SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES, ESPECIALLY THE ADVENTURES AND MISADVENTURES YOU HAD.

Kuch pane ke liye kuch khona padta hai.

People opt this career because it allures.

VALID GRIEVANCE YOU HAVE !! WHY DONT YOU DO ALL THE "WORK AND PLAY" ON-BOARD !!! OF COURSE, VISITING THE INTERIOR PARTS OF NEW PLACES HAS ITS OWN CHARM.

Why do people still opt for the career if it is making life dull for them? surely, there is a compensation out there which must be interesting too.
